Product Details
Gyprock Standard 13mm is a general-purpose internal wall and ceiling lining manufactured in Australia to meet and exceed AS/NZS 2588. It is the most widely specified plasterboard for commercial applications — fitouts, office partitions, retail walls, education buildings, and any project where a non-fire and non-acoustic rated 13mm plasterboard is sufficient.
At 8.5 kg/m², Standard 13mm provides more mass and rigidity than the 10mm residential boards, making it better suited to commercial environments where walls are likely to receive hard body impact from furniture, trolleys, and equipment. It can be used in conjunction with the full range of Gyprock wall and ceiling systems.
Where fire rating or acoustic performance is also required, Standard 13mm should be replaced with Fyrchek™ or
Best For
- Commercial wall and ceiling linings where fire and acoustic ratings are not required
- Office fitouts, retail walls, and tenant improvement projects
- Education buildings — classrooms, corridors, offices
- Healthcare facilities in non-rated areas
- Industrial building internal linings
- Residential upgrades where 13mm is preferred over 10mm for a more solid wall feel — commonly paired with SUPACEIL™ on ceilings
Why Builders Specify It
- AS/NZS 2588 certified — accepted for commercial certification without special approval
- 13mm thickness provides more rigidity and mass than 10mm boards — better suited to commercial environments with hard body impact risk
- Non-combustible per BCA Clause C1.12 — usable alongside Fyrchek™ in mixed-rated/non-rated wall systems on the same floor
- Available in widths to 1350mm and lengths to 6000mm — reduces joins and speeds installation
- Manufactured in Australia to consistent dimensions — reduces waste from oversized or undersized boards on commercial projects
Installation Notes That Prevent Callbacks
For commercial project pricing and large quantity delivery across WA, request a quote from our Osborne Park warehouse.
- Standard 13mm is not fire-rated. Confirm with the building certifier which walls require a fire-rated system and use Fyrchek™ boards in those locations. Using Standard 13mm in a fire-rated location will cause a compliance failure.
- Ensure fixings are at the correct spacing for the framing type — refer to the Gyprock installation guide for steel stud vs timber stud set-out.
- Finish joints with appropriate jointing compounds. Use a setting compound for the tape coat and drying compounds for fill and finish coats. See the Compounds range for current product options.
- Standard 13mm is not moisture resistant. In wet areas, specify Aquacheck™ or Sensitive.
Can Standard 13mm be used on ceilings?
Yes — Standard 13mm is suitable for both walls and ceilings in commercial applications. For residential ceilings, SUPACEIL™ at 10mm is lighter and better suited to 600mm joist centres. Standard 13mm on a residential ceiling will work but adds unnecessary weight unless the spec requires it.
Does Standard 13mm meet NCC fire rating requirements?
Standard 13mm is non-combustible under BCA Clause C1.12 and may be used wherever a non-combustible material is required. It is not a fire-rated board and cannot substitute for Fyrchek™ in assemblies requiring a fire resistance level (FRL). Confirm fire system requirements with the building certifier before specifying.
What is the maximum stud spacing for Standard 13mm?
Typical framing is at 450 mm or 600 mm centres. The maximum allowed depends on your wall assembly type, so confirm it against the current CSR Gyprock installation guide before you set out.
How does Standard 13mm compare to Impactchek™?
Both are 13mm boards. Impactchek™ adds a glass fibre mesh, denser core, and heavy-duty face paper that significantly increases resistance to hard and soft body impact. Standard 13mm is the right choice for general commercial applications; Impactchek™ is specified for corridors, foyers, classrooms, and areas where damage from impact is a realistic risk.
Can I get Standard 13mm delivered to a Perth commercial site?
Yes — Aussie Plasterboard delivers to commercial sites across WA. Request a quote for bulk commercial quantities or call (08) 9244 4250.
