Product Details

Gyprock Shaft Liner MP Panel is a 25mm thick, 600mm wide glass fibre-reinforced plasterboard panel encased in heavy-duty linerboard. Like standard Shaft Liner, it is designed to be installed into a purpose-built steel frame system to form the internal barrier of high-performance fire and acoustic wall systems — party walls, inter-tenancy separations, lift wells, and service shafts in commercial and multi-residential buildings.

The 'MP' designation means Mould Protected: Shaft Liner MP has a powerful but gentle antifungal agent incorporated into the core, face, and back paper, providing enhanced protection against mould growth during the construction period — a significant benefit on Perth sites where walls may be enclosed before the building is weathertight.

Shaft Liner MP is typically specified as the internal barrier lining in Gyprock Party Wall Systems and similar high-performance assemblies. It works in combination with Fyrchek™ or

Best For

  • Internal barrier lining in Gyprock Party Wall Systems for inter-tenancy walls
  • Multi-residential unit ceilings in tested fire assembly systems
  • Stairwells and fire-rated corridors in commercial buildings
  • Lift wells in Class 2 to Class 9 buildings
  • Service shafts and risers requiring fire separation — pair with Steel Stud and Ceiling Systems for the complete tested assembly
  • Mould protection during construction — sites where the building envelope is incomplete and wet weather is expected

Why Builders and Certifiers Specify It

  • 25mm glass fibre-reinforced core provides the structural depth required for high FRL fire assemblies that standard 13mm boards cannot achieve alone
  • Mould Protected (MP) formulation — antifungal agent in core and paper; reduces the risk of mould during long construction programs in Perth's variable climate
  • Compatible with all current Gyprock Party Wall System specifications. Use alongside Fyrchek™ face boards for the complete assembly
  • Non-combustible per BCA Clause C1.12 — fire and acoustic performance is part of the tested assembly, not just the individual board
  • Available in 600mm width — set-out is straightforward in standard 600mm-module steel frame systems

Installation Notes That Prevent Callbacks

Specifying Shaft Liner MP for a Perth multi-residential or commercial project? Request a quote and our team will confirm stock and delivery schedule.

  • Shaft Liner MP must be installed into a purpose-built steel frame system designed for party wall or shaft liner applications. It cannot be direct-fixed to standard wall framing. Confirm the frame system specification with the tested Gyprock Party Wall System documentation.
  • The mould protection in the MP board is effective during construction but should not be treated as a substitute for appropriate site moisture management. Store boards protected from rain and direct weather exposure on site. For more information on moisture management, see the Foils and Membranes range for cavity vapour products.
  • All penetrations through the shaft liner assembly must be sealed with fire-rated sealant appropriate for the FRL of the system. Unsealed penetrations void the fire rating entirely.

What is the difference between standard Shaft Liner and Shaft Liner MP?

Standard Shaft Liner and Shaft Liner MP share the same 25mm glass fibre-reinforced gypsum core, heavy-duty linerboard, and fire and acoustic performance. Shaft Liner MP adds a powerful antifungal agent incorporated into the core and paper layers, providing enhanced protection against mould growth during construction — a benefit on Perth sites where assemblies may be built before the building envelope is weathertight.

Can Shaft Liner MP be used for standard wall framing?

No. Shaft Liner MP is designed for use in purpose-built steel frame Party Wall Systems and shaft liner applications. The 25mm thickness and 600mm width are specific to these assemblies. It should not be used as a direct substitute for Fyrchek™ or other plasterboard in standard stud framing.

What fire ratings can a Shaft Liner MP assembly achieve?

The FRL belongs to the assembly rather than to the liner — frame system, board configuration, fixing schedule and penetration sealing all count towards it. Tested party wall systems commonly achieve FRLs from 60/60/60 up to 240/240/240. Look up the rating for the exact system you are building in current CSR Gyprock Party Wall System documentation.

Does Shaft Liner MP have acoustic performance?

Yes — the glass fibre-reinforced 25mm core of Shaft Liner MP contributes to the acoustic performance of the wall system. When used in a tested Gyprock Party Wall System with appropriate face boards and cavity insulation, the assembly achieves the STC and Rw+Ctr ratings required by NCC Part F5 for inter-tenancy walls in WA multi-residential buildings.

Can I get Shaft Liner MP delivered to my Perth project?

Yes — Aussie Plasterboard can supply Shaft Liner MP and delivers across WA from our Osborne Park warehouse. Request a quote to confirm lead times and project quantities.
