Product Details

Gyprock Impactchek™ is a 13mm plasterboard with a glass fibre mesh layer combined with a denser core and heavy-duty lining paper that significantly outperforms standard plasterboard in both soft body and hard body impact resistance. The glass fibre mesh is the critical component — it distributes impact energy across a wider area rather than concentrating it at the point of contact, reducing the likelihood of puncture or surface cracking.

Impactchek™ is also a fire and acoustic grade board, meaning a single board can meet multiple system requirements in corridors, stairwells, and public spaces without needing to layer different products. The board weighs 10.5 kg/m² — heavier than standard 13mm — reflecting the additional materials in its construction.

For projects where even higher impact resistance is required (mental health facilities, correctional facilities, sporting facilities), Impactchek™ is the stepping stone to the ECO8™ Extreme range, which adds mould resistance and GECA certification to an extreme-impact specification.

Best For

  • Commercial corridors, foyers, and stairwells
  • Retail walls subject to trolley and shelving impact
  • Classrooms and education buildings
  • Hotel foyers and public circulation areas
  • Games rooms and garages in residential applications
  • Healthcare facilities in medium-impact areas — for extreme impact environments, see ECO8™ Extreme

Why Builders and Commercial Specifiers Choose It

  • Glass fibre mesh distributes hard body impact (trolleys, furniture) across a wider area — boards last longer and require less maintenance
  • Dense core provides better resistance to soft body impact (balls, bags, bodies) compared to standard 13mm
  • Fire and acoustic grade board — can be used in wall systems where both impact and fire or acoustic performance are required alongside Fyrchek™
  • Non-combustible per BCA Clause C1.12 — no special certification required
  • Reduces maintenance callbacks in the first 3–5 years of commercial building occupation — a measurable lifecycle cost benefit

  • Impactchek™ is heavier than standard 13mm (10.5 kg/m²) — adjust your fixing schedule. Use correct fixing type and frequency for the framing system as specified in the Gyprock installation guide.
  • Impactchek™ is not moisture resistant. Do not use in bathrooms, change rooms, or high-humidity commercial kitchens. Specify Aquacheck™ or
  • Finish with standard jointing and painting. Use a durable paint system in high-impact areas — the board's surface is harder than standard plasterboard, but the paint layer is still the first line of defence against surface marking. See the Compounds range for appropriate jointing products.

How does Impactchek™ compare to Standard 13mm for impact resistance?

Impactchek™ is proven to significantly reduce damage from both soft body impact (people, bags, balls) and hard body impact (trolleys, furniture) compared to Standard 13mm. The key difference is the glass fibre mesh layer embedded in the board's core, which distributes impact energy over a wider area rather than allowing it to concentrate at a single point.

Is Impactchek™ also fire and acoustically rated?

Yes — Impactchek™ is a fire and acoustic grade board. It can be used in wall systems where fire separation or acoustic performance is specified alongside impact resistance. For higher fire resistance requirements, also consider Fyrchek™ which has a glass fibre-reinforced core specifically engineered for fire performance.

Can Impactchek™ be used in wet areas?

No — Impactchek™ does not have moisture resistance properties. In areas that require both impact and moisture resistance (commercial change rooms, hospital bathrooms, hotel ensuites), specify Fyrchek™ MR which combines fire-acoustic performance with moisture resistance, or consider ECO8™ Complete which has moisture resistance as part of its multi-attribute specification.

What is the difference between Impactchek™ and ECO8™ Extreme?

Both boards resist impact, but ECO8™ Extreme is a multi-attribute board rated for the most demanding environments. It adds mould resistance, fire rating, acoustic rating, moisture resistance, and GECA certification to a glass fibre-reinforced extreme-impact core. ECO8™ Extreme is specified for mental health facilities, correctional facilities, and healthcare environments where all these attributes must be present simultaneously.

Can I get Impactchek™ delivered to my Perth project?

Yes — Aussie Plasterboard delivers Impactchek™ and the full plasterboard range across WA from Osborne Park. Request a quote or call (08) 9244 4250.
