Product Details
Gyprock PLUS™ is a 10mm premium plasterboard manufactured by CSR Gyprock in Australia, featuring Optimised Core technology that delivers a higher breaking strength in a board that is substantially lighter than standard 10mm products. The thicker face paper produces a crisper score-and-snap action, cleaner cuts, and squarer edges — all things that save time on a busy residential site.
The board meets and exceeds the requirements of Australian Standard AS/NZS 2588, and under BCA Clause C1.12 it may be used wherever a non-combustible material is required. At 5.7 kg/m², it is noticeably easier to handle overhead and reduces crew fatigue on full-day ceiling installs.
Gyprock PLUS™ is the standard residential wall and ceiling lining for most Perth builds. For ceiling spans up to 600mm joist centres, consider SUPACEIL™ instead — it shares the same Optimised Core technology but is specifically engineered for ceiling performance.
Best For
- Residential wall linings in bedrooms, living rooms, and entry areas
- Ceilings on standard 450mm joist centres
- High-volume residential projects where board handling speed matters
- Owner-builder projects requiring a premium lightweight board
- Renovation work alongside the full plasterboard range for performance upgrades
- Any non-wet-area room where standard plasterboard would be specified
Choosing the Right Thickness and Size
Thickness — 10mm only
Gyprock PLUS™ is available in a single thickness of 10mm, making it the lighter residential alternative to the 13mm Standard board. Where the BCA or project spec requires 13mm, move to Gyprock Standard 13mm or a performance board from the Fyrchek™ or ECO8™ range.
Length and Width
Available in widths of 1200mm and 1350mm. Lengths range from 2400mm to 6000mm in 300mm increments. Longer boards mean fewer joins and a better finished surface — for rooms over 3m, a 3600mm or 4200mm length is worth specifying.
Why Builders Specify It
- Optimised Core technology — greater breaking strength than standard 10mm boards, confirmed to AS/NZS 2588
- Lighter board (5.7 kg/m²) reduces installation fatigue and speeds up set-out on large residential projects
- Thicker face paper gives a crisper score and snap — fewer damaged boards on site
- Non-combustible under BCA C1.12 — no substitution required when a non-combustible lining is specified alongside Fyrchek™ in fire-rated sections
- Available in lengths to 6000mm — reduces joins in open-plan living areas
Installation Notes That Prevent Callbacks

- Install with the recessed edge facing outward — this creates the rebate for tape and two-coat jointing. Never butt square edges in a field joint.
- On 450mm joist centres, PLUS™ performs well. If ceilings span 600mm centres, switch to SUPACEIL™ — the Optimised Core in the ceiling-specific board is engineered for that span.
- Use an appropriate jointing compound from the Compounds range — a setting compound for tape coat and a drying compound for finish coats.
- Store flat, fully supported at max. 600mm centres, and protected from moisture — never stand boards vertically on a wet slab.
Can Gyprock PLUS™ be used on ceilings?
Yes — Gyprock PLUS™ is suitable for ceilings with standard 450mm joist centres. For 600mm joist centres or for long-span commercial ceilings, SUPACEIL™ is the correct choice, as its core is specifically engineered to stay flat at that span.
What thickness options does Gyprock PLUS™ come in?
Gyprock PLUS™ is only available in 10mm. If the project requires 13mm plasterboard — for commercial use, acoustic performance, or heavier stud spacing — choose Standard 13mm or one of the performance boards from the plasterboard range.
What jointing compound should I use with Gyprock PLUS™?
Use a setting compound for the tape coat and first fill coat, then a drying compound for finish coats. Explore the full Compounds range — the right product for your application.
Is Gyprock PLUS™ suitable for bathrooms or wet areas?
No — Gyprock PLUS™ is not moisture resistant and should not be used in bathrooms, ensuites, laundries, or any area exposed to regular moisture. Specify Aquacheck™ (moisture resistant) or Sensitive (antifungal with moisture resistance) for those areas.
Does Gyprock PLUS™ meet NCC fire rating requirements?
Gyprock PLUS™ is non-combustible under BCA Clause C1.12 and may be used wherever a non-combustible material is required. It is not a fire-rated board. Fire-rated assemblies require Fyrchek™ or Fyrchek™ MR as part of a tested system.
Can I get Gyprock PLUS™ delivered to my Perth building site?
Yes — Aussie Plasterboard delivers across all of Western Australia from our warehouse in Osborne Park, 7 minutes from the Perth CBD. Request a quote or call (08) 9244 4250 to confirm lead times and pack sizes.
