Product Details

Kooltherm K10 G2 is a rigid phenolic soffit board for the underside of concrete floors and roofs. Its closed-cell phenolic core has a declared thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/m.K, which is why a K10 board reaches a target R-value at a noticeably thinner build-up than most alternatives , often the difference between keeping and losing clearance in a carpark.

The board carries a tissue-based upper facing and a reflective aluminium foil lower facing, and the core is fibre-free, so cutting and handling on site is cleaner than with fibrous products. Aussie Plasterboard supplies the full Kooltherm K10 range from Osborne Park with delivery across Perth.

Best for K10 G2

  • Carpark ceilings and undercrofts where headroom is tight
  • Exposed soffits above open or unheated areas
  • Concrete roof soffits with no suspended ceiling
  • Commercial and multi-residential slab undersides
  • Projects requiring a Group 2 NCC classification at the soffit

Selecting the Right K10 G2

Choose your thickness

Thicknesses run from 25 mm to 90 mm. Work back from the Total R-value your specification calls for , 25 mm gives a declared R1.10 and 90 mm gives R4.10. If you are close to a threshold, ask us to run the calculation rather than rounding up and giving away clearance you did not need to lose.

Choose your facing

  • K10 G2 , reflective foil lower face, the standard choice where the soffit is not a feature
  • K10 G2W , white lower face for soffits left on show
  • K10 PLUS , fibre cement face where Group 1 or impact resistance is specified

Check your fire requirement

K10 G2 carries a Group 2 NCC classification. If the specification calls for Group 1 at an exposed soffit, price K10 PLUS instead , substituting after the order is placed is an expensive correction.

Why Builders and Designers Specify K10 G2

  • 0.022 W/m.K thermal conductivity, among the lowest available in a rigid board
  • Thinner build-up for the same R-value, protecting clearance
  • Fibre-free core, cleaner to cut and handle
  • CodeMark certified for straightforward NCC compliance
  • Compliant with AS/NZS 4859.1:2018
  • Global GreenTag GreenRate certified for green building submissions
  • FM 4880 approval available , check the FM Approvals listing for conditions
  • Australian made

Installation Notes That Prevent Callbacks

Ready to order? Request a quote or call our Perth team for advice on thickness and fixing.

  • Fix mechanically to the concrete soffit with fixings rated for the substrate and the board thickness , under-specified fixings are the most common callback on soffit work.
  • Butt boards tight and keep joints consistent; gaps break the continuity of the insulation layer and show up as thermal bridges.
  • Cut with a fine-toothed saw and support the board fully while fixing so the edge does not crumble.
  • Confirm fixing type, centres and fire requirements against the current Kingspan installation guide before the first bay goes up.

Is Kooltherm K10 G2 the same as PIR?

No. K10 uses a phenolic core, which has a lower thermal conductivity than typical PIR, so a thinner board reaches the same R-value. Kingspan's PIR products sit under the Therma range, not Kooltherm.

What thickness do I need for my target R-value?

Declared values run from R1.10 at 25 mm to R4.10 at 90 mm. Total System R-value depends on the slab and the rest of the build-up, so send us the element detail and we will confirm the thickness.

Can it be left exposed in a carpark?

Yes. K10 G2 carries a Group 2 NCC fire classification and is widely used on exposed carpark soffits. Where Group 1 is specified, use K10 PLUS.

Does cutting it release fibres?

No. The core is fibre-free, which makes it cleaner to cut and handle than fibrous insulation.

Is the foil face a finished surface?

The foil is a low-emittance facing, not a decorative finish. Where the soffit is visible and appearance matters, K10 G2W with its white face is the better option.
