ShieldFlex MD Wall Wrap

Overview

The traditional Medium Duty reflective wall wrap.

ShieldFlex® MD is a flexible medium duty wall wrap and roof sarking, that is a Class 2 Vapour Barrier and highly resistant to water transfer. Manufactured with a highly reflective aluminium foil on one side and laminated using a fire-resistant polymer adhesive to a woven polymer and UV-stabilised polymer film, ShieldFlex® MD is perfectly suited for both commercial and residential buildings for a second layer of protection against moisture, wind and dust while minimising condensation risk.

A Class 2 vapour barrier, so this is the reflective option rather than the breathable one. The foil face only earns its extra R-value when it faces an air cavity , pressed hard against cladding it does nothing thermally, which is the most common way this product gets wasted.

Product advantages

Applications

ShieldFlex® MD is designed for use in residential and commercial roofs in all Australian Climate Zones, and behind wall systems in Australian Climate Zone 1. ShieldFlex® MD may also be used as a facing foil for bulk insulation blanket, providing the temperatures when processing the product do not exceed 80ºC.

• ShieldFlex® MD complies with the National Construction Code (NCC) for pliable building membranes and sarking type materials
• and satisfies the following requirements:
• Complies with AS 4200.1 for pliable building membranes, and therefore meets the requirements of NCC 2022 Volume 1 F8D3
• Condensation Management and NCC 2022 Volume 2 ABCB Housing provisions 10.8.1.
• Non-Combustible Sarking-Type Material Exemption:
• ShieldFlex® MD has a Flammability Index ≤5 and does not exceed 1 mm in thickness, and therefore may be used in accordance with
• the non-combustible sarking-type material exemption stated in NCC 2022 Volume 1 C2D10 (6)(f ) and NCC 2022 Volume 2 H3D2 (1)(f ).
