Overview
Heavy Duty reflective sarking and wall wrap in one product.
ShieldFlex® HD is a flexible heavy duty wall wrap and roof sarking, that is a Class 2 Vapour Barrier and highly resistant to water transfer. Manufactured with a highly reflective aluminium foil on one side and laminated using a fire-resistant polymer adhesive to a woven polymer and UV-stabilised polymer film, ShieldFlex® HD is perfectly suited for both commercial and residential buildings for a second layer of protection against moisture, wind and dust while minimising condensation risk.
The all-rounder: rated Heavy Duty for roof sarking and wall wrap alike, with a reflective foil face and a woven core that resists tearing on a windy Perth roof. Class 2 vapour barrier, so it stops vapour rather than letting it through.
Product advantages
- Class 2 Vapour Barrier and a Water Barrier in compliance with AS/NZS 4200.1.
- Achieves low flammability results when tested to AS/NZS 1530.2.
- Suitable for bushfire-prone areas and use in construction requirements with BALs of LOW – FZ.
- UV resistant and extremely durable.
Applications
ShieldFlex® HD is designed for use in residential and commercial roofs in all Australian Climate Zones, and behind wall systems in Australian Climate Zone 1. ShieldFlex® HD may also be used as a facing foil for bulk insulation blanket, providing the temperatures when processing the product do not exceed 80ºC.

NCC compliance
- ShieldFlex® HD complies with the National Construction Code (NCC) for pliable building membranes and sarking type materials
- and satisfies the following requirements:
- Complies with AS 4200.1 for pliable building membranes, and therefore meets the requirements of NCC 2022 Volume 1 F8D3
- Condensation Management and NCC 2022 Volume 2 ABCB Housing provisions 10.8.1.
- Non-Combustible Sarking-Type Material Exemption:
- ShieldFlex® HD has a Flammability Index ≤5 and does not exceed 1 mm in thickness, and therefore may be used in accordance with
- the non-combustible sarking-type material exemption stated in NCC 2022 Volume 1 C2D10 (6)(f ) and NCC 2022 Volume 2 H3D2 (1)(f ).

- When specifying, state the following:
- Product Name: Reflex Insulation® ShieldFlex® HD
- The pliable building membrane to be installed shall be Reflex Insulation® ShieldFlex® HD and shall be installed in accordance with
- AS 4200.2. The product must have the following properties:
- Vapour Permeability Classification: Class 2
- Duty Classification: Heavy Duty or greater 4 Vapour Permeability: 0.1429 ug/N.s or less
- Flammability Classification: Low (≤5) 4 Water Control Classification: Water Barrier
- Store this product undercover in a clean, dry place in the pack provided.
