Product Overview

Manufactured by worldwide plasterboard specialist Saint-Gobain, Gyptone is purpose built to provide exceptional acoustic control with contemporary design. High levels of acoustic absorption are achieved through a combination of perforation patterns and a highly effective white acoustic fabric backing, which also prevents dust from the ceiling entering the room and masks the ceiling framework.

The longboard format provides a bigger perforation area than the standard board, which makes it ideal for creating a strong visual impact on projects with a greater distance from floor to ceiling, as well as better sound absorption.

Gyptone Slotted Longboard features 3 large square groupings per sheet, each with 49 mini grids of six 6mm x 80mm slot perforations, providing an 18% open area. Gyptone is also manufactured with Activ'Air technology, which has an enduring impact on indoor air quality.

All four edges of Gyptone perforated plasterboards are recessed to make flush jointing quicker and easier without the need for butt joints between full panels. The availability of seamless Gyptone access panels ensures easy access to the ceiling cavity while maintaining pattern continuity.

Typical Applications

Gyptone perforated plasterboard is typically used as a high performance plasterboard for ceilings in commercial construction where a high level of acoustic performance is required , theatres, restaurants, shopping centres and hotel foyers. While perforated plasterboard is predominantly installed in ceilings, it is also suitable for use in walls.

Gyptone joints are finished with a three coat jointing system and sanded smooth prior to decoration.

Product Handling

Transportation and manual handling: Refer to the Gypsum Board Manufacturers of Australia (GBMA) website for recommended OH&S practices.

Storage: Protect plasterboard and cornice from weather and moisture. Avoid products sagging by storing horizontally, supported on a level platform or full-width support members spaced at max. 600mm centres.
