Product Details
Kooltherm K17 Insulated Plasterboard bonds a rigid phenolic insulation core directly to a plasterboard face, so one board both insulates and lines the wall. On the internal face of masonry and concrete walls that removes a whole trade step.
Its thin profile also means you give up less floor area than a battened-out build-up would cost you , on a small footprint that difference is worth real money. Quoted thicknesses include the plasterboard.
Best for K17
- Internal faces of masonry and blockwork walls
- Concrete walls in commercial and multi-residential builds
- Upgrading the thermal performance of existing solid walls
- Projects where losing floor area to a battened build-up is a problem
Selecting the Right K17
Choose your thickness
35 mm to 100 mm including the plasterboard face, giving declared R-values from R1.15 to R4.15. Work back from the Total R-value in your specification and confirm against the wall build-up.
Check your fixing method
K17 can be fixed with adhesive or mechanically depending on the substrate. Confirm which the wall calls for before ordering fixings or adhesive.
Confirm board size
Standard board size is 2400 x 1200 mm. Other dimensions are available on enquiry, though minimum order quantities apply.

Installation Notes That Prevent Callbacks
We supply K17 alongside the compounds and jointing materials to finish it , request a quote .
- Fix to the internal wall face using the adhesive or mechanical method appropriate to the substrate. Mixing methods across one wall is a common cause of uneven surfaces.
- Set boards out so joints land consistently and keep them tight , the insulation layer only performs as well as its continuity.
- Finish joints using standard plasterboard jointing practice once boards are fixed.
- Check fixing method, adhesive type and any fire requirements against the current Kingspan installation guide before starting.
Do I still need to line the wall after fixing K17?
No. The plasterboard face is the lining. Once boards are fixed you joint and finish them as you would any plasterboard wall.
Do the thicknesses include the plasterboard?
Yes. The 35 to 100 mm range covers the complete board, insulation plus plasterboard face.
Can it be used on an existing solid wall?
Yes. It is commonly used to upgrade the thermal performance of existing masonry and concrete walls without building out a stud frame.
What R-value can I achieve?
Declared R-values run from R1.15 at 35 mm to R4.15 at 100 mm.
Is it available in other board sizes?
Standard is 2400 x 1200 mm. Other dimensions are available on enquiry, subject to minimum order quantities.
